Jill in Jarlaheim has some more work for you to do around town.
The Guardian of Jarlaheim
Rita. One of the city residents have requested assistance from the Town Hall. We’re unable to help him, but if you have the time, I’d be very grateful for your help. You do have time? Excellent! Ride and to the city guard. He won’t disclose what’s happened over the phone, so I’m assuming it’s something sensitive. A certain amount of discretion may be advisable. So long, and good luck. Objectives: Ride and speak to the city watch. Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 5 XP Reputation: 5 with Jarlaheim
Speak to the city guard, named Gavin, who is located at the house around the corner from Town Hall.
Who are you? You’re here to help me? Oh, that was kind of you! Quest completed

Who Guards the Guard?
Uhm… What was your name again? Rita! That’s a nice name! Well, you see Rita, a terrible crime has been committed! Someone has stolen my keys! Anyone in possession of those keys can open every nook and cranny in the city. Help me find the thief! We have to find him and punish him! Myself, I suspect that Ms Drake, she seems like scum… Or maybe Jack, he seems like scum too… Or maybe Jill, or the vet, or Herman? It could be anyone! It’s terrible! Uh… If maybe I lost them? Well, I guess there is a microscopic chance… Where have I been today? First I went for breakfast at the cafe, then I was in the park by the beach house, later back at the cafe for lunch, then I spoke a bit with the store staff in the square, later it was afternoon tea, and then I noticed that the keys were missing! You’ll look for them? Thanks. I’ll search here and you can see if you can find them someplace else. Objectives: Find the guard’s keys somewhere in Jarlaheim. Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP Reputation: 25 with Jarlaheim
Search the areas indicated on your map to find the keys. When you discover them, return to Gavin to give the keys back to him.
Keys? There’s my keys! Why do you have my keys? I’d lost them? Oh. It was nice of you to return them to me. Who are you by the way? Rita! What a lovely name! I should get back to work, I’ve spent my entire day looking for my keys. How do I make time for everything? (You’re thinking the city guard needs all the help he can get Being this confused, it’s a wonder he remembers how to breathe without anyone reminding him.) Quest completed

Inspect the Wall
You want to help me? How nice of you! Well. One thing I need help doing is to inspect the old ring wall going around the city. Have you seen it? You have? Well, it’s not so hard to spot, that’s true. In any case, it’s old and it’s not uncommon for stones to come lose or parts of the wall crumbling down. Take these warning signs and see if you find any lose stones on top of the wall. Place a sign if you do and I’ll come after and repair the wall. You have to ride along the top of the wall, got it? Objectives: Mark the places on top of the wall which are broken with the signs the guard gave you. Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP Reputation: 15 with Jarlaheim
There is a ramp behind you, next to Town Hall. There are other ramps around town as well. Go up the ramp and ride along the wall and place all of the signs. When you are done, return to Gavin.
Placed out signs? What signs? Oh. You’ve marked where the wall is broken, very good! Then I know where to fix it! How clever of you to come up with that. Quest completed

The City Gates
Well… What was I thinking… …Uhm… What are you doing here, by the way? You want to help me again? Very good! One matter I need help with is checking if the city gates work as they should. Not that it’s needed much, but we should be able to lock the city gates when needed. So, what I need you to do is… Eh… What was it again? Check locks? You should check the locks on the gates, what a great idea! That would be of great help. Here, take my keys and see if the lock works. Objectives: Use the keys to control if the city gate locks works. Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP Reputation: 15 with Jarlaheim
Ride around to each of the gates, and use the key in your inventory to test the locks. When you have checked all of the locks, return to Gavin.
Hello there! Why do you have my keys? Have you stolen them? You’ve been checking the locks on the gates? I’ve no recollection of that.. Are you sure? It was kind of you. Did they work? However, next time you want to help me with the gates you should ask to borrow the keys first. I get super nervous when you just snitch them like that. Quest completed

City in Light
Listen, Lisa, could you help me with something? Rita? Who is that? Oh! That’s you! I’m sorry, I thought you were Lisa. You look so similar to her, you see. I wonder where she went? Anyway! As you might have seen, the entire city is illuminated by nice lights. Unfortunately, they’re of horrendous quality. Not that anyone notices, but I’m replacing broken lights every day. Here’s a bag with some new bulbs. Replace all broken light bulbs you can find in the city. Objectives: Change all the broken light bulbs in the city. Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP Reputation: 15 with Jarlaheim
Ride around and find the flickering lights and use the new bulbs in your inventory. When you have replaced all of the broken lights, return to Gavin.
Hi. Unfortunately, I don’t have the time to talk right now. I’m just about to change all the broken lights in the city. You see, they break all the time. What? You’ve just replaced all the broken lights? Gosh golly, how nice of you! Quest completed

The Road to Devil’s Gap
Now, there isn’t much left to do today. That’s too bad. Why is it bad? Well, you see Linda… What? Your name isn’t Linda? Oh, that’s right. You don’t have the same glasses… Rita! Yes, that was it. Anyway, if everything is done for the day, the only remaining task is the scary one, to inspect the gate to Devil’s Gap. That gate must always stay closed. Why? Oh, believe me, Rita, you don’t want to know… You don’t want to know… Unlock the city gate leading to Devil’s Gap and inspect the iron gate in the wall behind it. Make sure it’s locked and barred. If anything seems off, come right back at once! Objectives: Open the city gate that leads to the road towards Devil’s Gap and inspect the giant iron gate leading into Devil’s Gap. Rewards: 40 Jorvik Shillings, 25 XP, Guard Saddle Reputation: 40 with Jarlaheim
Ride to the north end of town and open the gate at the top of the steps. Go through the doorway and inspect the parts of the gate to Devil’s Gap. Don’t get distracted by the creepiness. When you are done, return to Gavin.
The Devil’s Gap Gate? Never open it! You’ve inspected it? Did everything look alright? How wonderful! Thank you! Know what, here’s a saddle I’ve saved. Come back whenever you want, I often have errands I need help with. Quest completed
You can now do daily tasks for Gavin to raise your reputation with Jarlaheim.
Return to Jill tomorrow.
Stein, at Jorvik Stables, has decided that you are trustworthy. Go speak to him about seeing Herman.
Herman on Vacation
Listen, Rita. It feels like we’ve become fast friends since you started working here. I promised Herman not to say anything… But I trust you and if you really want to meet him, I’ll tell you where he is. He’s not far off on vacation, only a few meters away actually. He never went on vacation, he’s been hiding in his house to get away from Jack and be alone with some new project of his. I know, pretty clever, or what!? He’ll open the door if you do a secret knock on the door. Do like this. Knock like this, three times. Correct, you got it. Do as I’ve told you and Herman will surely open the door. Objectives: Knock on the door of Herman’s house. Rewards: 50 Jorvik Shillings, 100 XP Reputation: 25 with Jorvik Stables
Dismount your horse in front of Herman’s house and approach the door to perform the secret knock.
Stein, what is it? Hmm… Who are you? How come you know the secret knock? Quest completed

Can You Be Trusted?
So Stein eventually told you where to find me. Oh well, I guess it was unavoidable. What do you want? Sigh… Take over Jack’s job as mayor? I neither want or have the time to be mayor. The three major families in the county should be able to handle this themselves. I’m doing much too important work myself, you see. Everything isn’t what it appears to be. The G.E.D. has something big and sinister going on… Wait… We cannot speak here. You never know who might be listening… Come inside and I’ll tell you more. Objectives: Go inside the house and speak to Herman again. Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP Reputation: 10 with Jorvik Shillings
Click on the blue sparkles in front of the door to go inside.
Can I trust you? I think so… It feels like you possess a special force. A force that I recognize. Alright, I’ll go with my gut feeling and trust you. You see, I need help moving forward with a mystery I’m trying to solve. Where did Mayor Evelyn go? There are many sinister things going on in the Harvest Counties these days, Rita. G.E.D. is in the middle of some big secret project, you might have seen them collecting samples around here? And they’re involved in Mayor Evelyn’s disappearance, I’m certain. Everything is connected, but I have no proof. Here is where you come in. Quest completed
______________
A Dour Employment
This is how it is, Rita. G.E.D. has somehow been allowed to search for minerals all around Jarlaheim. How they got permission, I don’t know, but there is no way they’ve obtained it legitimately. There’s some funny business going on, most definitely. And they’re behind the disappearance of Mayor Evelyn as well, though I’m not yet sure how. G.E.D’s head in Jarlaheim, a certain Ms Drake, is extremely suspicious of me and avoids me like the plague. But she doesn’t know you. Get my drift? If you, whom she doesn’t know, could win her confidence, you would certainly be able to find out what they’re doing around here. Would you help me find out what G.E.D. is doing here in the Harvest Counties? What are they really up to, and are they behind Evelyn’s disappearance? You’ll do it? Good! Ride off and speak to Ms Drake and see if you can get employment with her. Good luck! Objectives: Ride and speak to Ms Drake in Jarlaheim. Reward: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 5 XP Reputation: 10 with G.E.D. Jarlaheim Office
Ms Drake is near the front door on the back side of the building, located by the north entrance of the city.

Do You Have What It Takes?
Heh, wait. Let me just wipe off the tears. You would like to work for us? Please, we don’t hire wimps. At our company you need to be fierce and merciless to get a job. What? You are fierce and merciless? Would you be willing to betray your friends for a raise? Fraud senior citizens of their last dime for a higher bonus? Level a nature reserve to the ground for a free lunch? You would?! Hmm… I did all that when I was about your age… Maybe you’re just the one I’m looking for. Okay, you’ll be undertaking the G.E.D’s standardized employment test. If you succeed, you’ll get a probationary position here. We’re starting now, are you ready? Objectives: Answer the questions. Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 35 XP, G.E.D. Top, G.E.D. Skirt Reputation: 50 with G.E.D. Jarlaheim Office
To pass the test, select the most awful answer that is given to you, even if it hurts a little to say you would do it. The objective is to appeal for this devil of a woman. Show no mercy…
Wow! You got a perfect score. I’ve never met a more sinister and ruthless person than you, Rita… Can it really be true? … Congrats! That was really perfect! I’ll teach you all I know. But if you betray me, I will hunt you to the ends of the world. Do not forget… No one fools Ms Drake and gets away with it. Put on these clothes. You need to look professional working for the G.E.D. And since you’re in your probation period, we won’t be giving you any pay. But that goes without saying. Quest completed

Personnel Inspection
We must always ensure that our workers are doing their job. Anyone who doesn’t, is fired directly. So, ride off to Exploration Station Alpha and make sure everyone is working as they should and report back to me afterwards. If you find someone lounging, relaxing, eating lunch, or using the restroom, I’ll teach you the best firing techniques! Hah! It’s the best thing I know. No one can make people cry like me. Objectives: Inspect the workers at the Exploration Station. Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP Reputation: 25 with G.E.D. Jarlaheim Office
Ride to the site marked on your map, south of the Jorvik Stables. To inspect the workers, simply ride close to them. When you have inspected all of the workers, return to Ms Drake.
You’re back. Report. Everyone was working as they should. That was too bad, I was really looking forward to firing someone today. Quest completed
______________
Message to the Supervisor
As you understand, our operation here in Jarlaheim isn’t entirely successful. We must do everything we can to get results. Take this extremely threatening letter I’ve composed to our supervisor at Exploration Station Alpha. After he’s read it, I guarantee he’ll work harder so he won’t get fired. Ha ha, he’ll push his staff even harder than himself, too. I love starting this kind of chain reaction. It’s fortunate that the G.E.D. doesn’t have a health plan for their employees, then we’d have to pay millions for damages, as we’re pushing them harder than anyone else. Sob. It’s so beautiful, it brings tears to my eyes. Objectives: Give the letter to the supervisor at the Exploration Station. Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP Reputation: 25 with G.E.D. Jarlaheim Office
Find the supervisor standing near the small office hut on the site.
What do you want?! A letter from Ms Drake? Gulp. … Report to her that we’ll work even harder! She doesn’t need to worry, she can trust me! And listen… If I should get fired, can you try to get her to change her mind? She doesn’t need to make use of her contacts to expel my kids from school as well! Quest completed
______________
Mineral Collection
Our exploration hasn’t yielded any results yet, Rita. We need to find some valuable minerals or metals soon, or I’ll get fired by management. And remember, if I’m fired, you’re fired as well! The management is merciless. If they fire me, mine and every other G.E.D. worker’s lives are destroyed forever. There isn’t a more heartless bunch than the G.E.D’s management. I respect them tremendously. Ride off to Exploration Station Alpha and prospect some mineral samples from the stones that the workers have exposed. (You think it best that Herman gets the mineral samples once you find them instead of Ms Drake.) Objectives: Prospect minerals at the Exploration Station. Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP Reputation: 25 with G.E.D. Jarlaheim Office
Dismount your horse near the exposed stones and use the pickaxe from your inventory to harvest mineral samples. When you have excavated the three stones in the area, take the samples to Herman, inside his house.
Rita, have you discovered anything? They’re looking for valuable minerals but haven’t found any yet. Hmm… Ha! I have an idea. Quest completed
______________
Counterfeit Mineral Results
Now we’ll deceive Ms Drake properly! We do it like this. Let me swap these samples with the gravel from the stable’s gravel path. I guarantee these pebbles are worthless. Bring these to Ms Drake instead and see what she says, he he. Objectives: Bring the counterfeit mineral samples to Ms Drake. Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 25 XP Reputation: 25 with G.E.D. Jarlaheim Office
Take the pebbles to Ms Drake and pass them off as the samples from the Exploration Station. That will show her!
Do you have the mineral samples? Good. I’ll send them for analyzing at our lab. Let’s hope we’ve found something, the management is starting to lose their patience… Quest completed

An Evil Seed is Sown
So, Rita. How do you like it here at the G.E.D? Is your dark heart’s hunger satisfied by the misery that you’re spreading? It’s wonderful! You really have potential. I’d like to make you my personal assistant, but you’re too inexperienced. If you continue to work and make the errands I’m asking you to, I can probably give you a promotion soon. Work hard! I like you, but I’ll gladly ruin your life if you betray me. You can start by fetching me a cup of coffee from Stablebucks Cafe. Objectives: Fetch a cup of coffee for Ms Drake at the Stablebucks Cafe. Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 25 XP Reputation: 5 with G.E.D. Jarlaheim Office
The cafe is located outside the city, on the southeast side. Ride out either the east or the south gates and follow the road outside of the city.
Coffee for Ms Drake?! Gulp! Wait, I’ll get it at once! Ooooohhhh, concentrate! I must make it precisely as she wants it, get it? Otherwise, she’s promised to tear the cafe to the ground and construct a landfill here instead. Do not disturb me! Quest complete
______________
Black Coffee for a Black Heart
Here’s Ms Drake’s coffee! It’s completely black, without sugar or milk, precisely like she wants it. Hurry back to her! Objectives: Ride back to Ms Drake with the coffee. Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP Reputation: 20 with G.E.D. Jarlaheim Office
I’m pretty sure city zoning laws would prevent construction of a landfill so close to the water, but she has plenty other reasons to fear Ms Drake…
Let me taste the coffee. Quite bitter with a burned aftertaste. Perfect. Rita. I’m going to give you errands to run every day from now on. Make them and show some diligence, and I might promote you to be my personal assistant. I really need a new one, my old one forgot I’m not using milk in my coffee so I was forced to fire him and banish his entire family from their family farm. Ha ha, good times! Remember that, Rita. I want my coffee as my heart. Black. Quest completed
From now on you can complete daily quests of inspecting the personnel, delivering a letter, and prospecting minerals from Ms Drake to raise your reputation with her.
Return to Ms Drake when you are Friendly with G.E.D. Jarlaheim Office.
