Wishspers – Chapter 1: Meeting Moorland

$

Hi! I’m Anna, a new contributor to Star Stable Online Ride Through! I’m going to be writing once a week, installing a new chapter each time to a fictional story, set on the Island of Jorvik. My first story, the first chapter written here, is called ‘Wishspers’. Hope you enjoy!:)

I live on the Island of Jorvik, a place well known for the astounding beauty and nature surrounding the small villages, but also, or rather, mainly for the stables and horses living on the island. Great. Some old island with ‘stunning nature’ and a load of animals that trample around nosily all the time. Just what I like to see in an Island.

I moved out here 5 years ago, when my parents died in a car crash. I don’t care. They didn’t love me anyway, and I much preferred my Granddad in character and style. Though, when he decided that it wasn’t a good idea to live in the same town my parents died in, and that we were moving to some old Fishing Town on the outskirts of a huge Island, I wasn’t exactly leaping for joy. I was happy back in Mandeville – I had friends, and the cottage was nice. But no, it apparently wasn’t anything to do with me, and Granddad had made the decision and whatever I said would be heard but disregarded, as we were leaving the very next day. So I said goodbye to my friends, who promised to visit every summer (well that worked out of course, some friends they were) and set off, on, according to my Granddad, a brand new adventure.

I don’t go to school here. When I first got here, I had to travel miles by horse to school in a village called Silverglade. Lets just say that teachers don’t respect having a bucket of water be placed ‘accidentally’ over their heads so that when they open the door, it will spill over them, so, after a stern speaking to, my Granddad pulled me out of school and started to home-school me. And that’s where I am now. And I love it. Each term I pick a subject, like History or Geography, and then I have to research the history of the island, or why we have a certain type of tree growing there, as a project of freedom aside from English, Maths, Science and my other chosen subjects. My Granddad trusts me, and me and my horse Braveheart are allowed to ride out to any of the permitted places on the island and draw, or collect information. It’s great. And it’s about to get even better…..

Me and Brave were just riding down to Moorland, the main stables in the South of Jorvik. We were riding there to speak to Thomas, owner of the Stables and, turns out, Father of the cutest guy ever! So, he told me the owners of my horse had heard how well we were getting on together and have proposed a slight discount on him, so that I can buy Brave! As I was riding out of the village back home to tell Granddad, I bumped into a guy who introduced himself as Justin. He is so nice and kind, and he introduced me to the others around Moorland: May, Loretta, Tanya and Jen. They’re all quite nice, apart from Loretta, who thinks she owns Justin, but we’ll soon show her! Anyways, he invited me back there tomorrow to check out Braveheart and said he has a surprise! I can’t wait!

Let’s go see what Tyra’s plan is to protect the riding hall.

Techno

tyra

The shepherd Landon outside Silverglade Village has bought a herding dog. His name is Techno and he is the big brother of the dog Disco who lives in Silverglade Village. Maybe you have seen him? Anyway it turned out that Techno was more of a watchdog than a herding dog. Landon will let us take Techno and use him as a watchdog outside the riding stable. A solution that will be perfect for us and for the dog, and I promise that no one will vandalize the riding hall when Techno is watching over it. Landon said that Techno is ready for delivery today. Maybe you can ride over there and get our new watchdog?

Objectives: Ride and talk to Landon the shepherd outside Silverglade Village.

Rewards: 50 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP

Landon is watching over his sheep in the field near the windmill.

landon

I heard that you were coming over. This is Techno. Say hello to Rita, Techno!

A Watchdog

landon

It’s very disappointing that this happened. I will miss Techno but he is not happy as a herding dog and I’m sure that he will have it much better with you. I will come and visit him sometimes, if it’s okay? He is such a nice dog. I think you can carry him in your backpack. Take Techno and ride back to Tyra.

Objectives: Take Techno and ride to Tyra at the Silverglade Equestrian Center.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP

Take the pup back to Tyra.

tyra

Oh, he is adorable! And he looks like a perfect watchdog.

Quest completed

Show Techno His New Home

tyra

Do you mind going with Techno to the riding arena? I have a bag with dog treats here and if you give them to him he will follow you. Come back to me later. I want you to help me build a doghouse for Techno.

Objectives: Give dog treats to Techno and take him to his new place near the entrance of the riding hall.

Rewards: 30 Jorvik Shillings, 25 XP

Give a treat to Techno every time he stops along the way to the riding hall.

When he has gotten there safely, return to Tyra.

tyra

Everything went okay? That’s good. Now we have to start building a doghouse.

Quest completed

Return to Tyra tomorrow.

Some of you are driving me crazy. I can’t take it any more. How obvious does big red type have to be on a page before you pay attention to it and read what it says. I’m getting REALLY tired of getting new comments asking questions that were asked only a few comments up.

NEW RULE

I will no longer answer questions that have been answered already anywhere on the blog.

If anyone else wants to answer them, go ahead, but I will only be telling you that I have already answered that question, and to go read previous comments or look at a certain page where the information is located. Use the CTRL + F function on your browser to search for specific words. I will not take tl;dr as an excuse!

Cry me a river if this causes you more work, but I put too much time into this blog to not have people take me seriously. You want my help? It’s all there for you already. Sometimes you need to learn to try to help yourself first.

Also! The Get Help Here page is (and always has been) ONLY for questions about quests that have not been covered on the blog yet. I have added the Quest Directory to make it easier for you to find the post for specific quests that have already been posted. Please use it!

If this continues, I will be disabling comments completely. I feel like my help is being taken advantage of, and I don’t like it.

Tyra has finished building the doghouse for Techno.

A House for the Dog

tyra

Hi! I’m ready with the doghouse now! I’m really happy with how it turned out, I think my old woodworking teacher would give me an A. Can you carry it with your horse and place it outside the riding arena? I’m so excited to see if Techno will like it!

Objectives: Place Techno’s new doghouse and see if he likes it.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP

Go down to the riding arena and place the doghouse near Techno, then return to Tyra.

tyra

Did he like it? Oh, I’m so happy! Many thanks, Rita. The riding arena will be safe from now on. The Baroness said she wanted to talk to you, by the way.

As Thanks for the Help

baroness

So nice seeing you again, Rita. I wanted to give you a small gift because you have been so kind and helpful t us at the Manor. Unfortunately I don’t have enough evidence to be able to catch Mr Kembell this time. But may God forgive this man if he tries to vandalize anything here again!

Objectives: Talk to the Baroness.

Rewards: 100 Jorvik Shillings, 25 XP, Techno’s Blanket

The Baroness will give you her gift.

baroness

Here is your gift Rita, it’s Techno’s favorite pattern. I hope you and Summerblaze will like it. Now I’m looking forward to some peace and quiet at the Manor.

Quest completed

It’s about darn time somebody asked about the South Iron Gate. Let’s go see the Council Man in Silverglade Village about it.

Why is the Gate Still Closed?

council_man

I’ll tell you, it is very strange… The gate to Goldenhills Valley is always opened in the spring. Every year around this tie Klaus, the mayor of Cape West Fishing Village, opens the gate. This has never happened before… I bet you would like to know why it is closed in the wintertime?

Objectives: Speak with the Council Man.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP

The Council Man will tell you more about the gate.

council_man

Well, the gate to Goldenhills Valley has always been closed in the winter because of the mystical snow ghosts and other dangerous winter spirits that rage through that area in the winter. By closing the gate we’ve managed to keep them from intruding in Silverglade. Those spirits are dangerous and can frighten both children and horses… So closing the gate every winter is very important.

Quest completed

______________

Reason for Opening the Gate

council_man

I’m not sure how we are going to manage it… Mayor Klaus locks and opens the gate with the Key to the City he always carries around his neck. You might have seen a painting of him in the castle at Silverglade? No? Ride to the castle and look at the painting. It is around to the right inside the door. Who knows… Maybe it will give you an idea for some solution to our problem. I’ll continue to try and find a solution here while you are away.

Objectives: Ride to Silverglade Castle and have a look at the painting of Mayor Klaus.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP

Go inside the castle doors and turn to the right. The painting is on the wall next to the door.

A Fake Idea!

self

“…The Key to the City that opens the locked gate… Hmm… The painting is very detailed, someone could probably make a copy of the key if… If someone had a copy of the painting!

A photo! I’ll go and explain it to the Council Man!”

Objectives: Explain your idea to the Council Man in Silverglade.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 35 XP

Go back to the Council Man and tell him your idea.

council_man

So, your idea is that we take a photograph of the key in the painting that someone can use to make a copy of the key… And we can use that copy of the key to open the gate?

That is brilliant!

Quest completed

______________

Question of the Camera

council_man

You think you can borrow a camera from James to take a photo of the key in the painting in the castle? Ok, ride to Fort Pinta and ask the little guy!

Objectives: Ask James in Fort Pinta, if you can borrow his camera.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP

No, I will demand James to give me his camera. The little whelp still owes me big time…

james

Hmmm… You want to borrow my camera?

Quest completed

Key Photo

james

Ok, Rita. You can borrow my camera, just because it is you! But as soon as you are done with the camera please take it to Derek who is working at the post office in Silverglade. Derek also wanted to borrow the camera. I think he might even print out your photo for you! I’ve heard he has the equipment he needs to print out photos at the post office.

Objectives: Go take a photo of the painting in the castle. Leave the camera with Derek at Silverglade’s post office.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP

Go back into the castle to take the picture. Then go to Derek in Silverglade Village.

derek

Aha! I finally get to borrow James’s camera! I’ll have you know I am an excellent photographer. Before I started work here at the post office I used to take pictures for a bunch of the big fashion magazines. Just so you know, it was me who took the first photos of Anne when she went to school in Jorvik. Aha… You want me to print out your photo?

Quest completed

______________

Printed Photo

derek

Of course I’ll print it for you! I’ll do it for free. We normally take 15 Jorvik Shillings per print. Zip! Now it is ready. What a great picture of a… huh… a painted key? So… interesting…

Objectives: Take the photo to the Council Man.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP

Well, gee, Derek, you don’t have to brag so much. It’s not very becoming of you…

council_man

That was fast. And what a great photo! I’ve been standing here thinking about who could possibly make a key with only a photo to go by… But I haven’t come up with anyone. We don’t have a locksmith here… Have you thought of anyone?

Quest completed

______________

Can You Forge a Key?

council_man

Aha! I didn’t think of that! You are right. Conrad Marsdeen in Moorland is a well-known master blacksmith. It was great that you thought of him. Take the photo with you and ask him if he could possibly forge us a copy of the key.

If all goes well I’ll wish you luck in Goldenhills Valley. Don’t forget to send my best wishes to Klaus when you ask him why he didn’t open the gate this year.

Objectives: Ask Conrad if he can forge a copy of the key in the photo.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillngs, 15 XP

Go to Moorland with your photo and ask for his help.

conrad_marsdeen

Rita! I haven’t seen you for a while. You are wondering if I can make you a copy of a key? The key to a city? Okay… The ends justifies the means. I’ll help you so that we can find out what has happened in Goldenhills Valley.

Quest completed

______________

More Iron Ore

conrad_marsdeen

I need iron ore to make you a new key. You already know that iron ore is in the Demascus Mine just southwest of here. Take my pickax and ride over to the mine to get me some. When you get back we’ll get started.

Objectives: Use the pickax in the Demascus Mine to chip out three chunks of Jorvik iron ore and come back to Conrad with them.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 25 XP

Reputation: 20 with Keepers of Aideen

Well, off you go!

conrad_marsdeen

Wonderful! You have done this before so you are getting good at it now.

Quest completed

______________

A Little Blacksmith’s Apprentice

conrad_marsdeen

This might take a while, but if you help me, the first phase of the forging can go smoother. At least you’ll get to practice your smithing skills. Who knows, some day you might be a real blacksmith’s apprentice?

Listen here… Sometimes we need to work the iron on the anvil with the hammer and sometimes we’ll need to heat the iron in the forge with the tongs… And sometimes we’ll need to cool the iron in the bucket with the water.

I’ll tell you which thing we need to do and when. Timing is always important… If we get it wrong we’ll have to start over again. Remember you’ll need to get off your horse when we start forging. And put your horse a little distance off so we have room to work.

Here are the tongs and hammer. Get ready to use them.

Objectives: You need to get off your horse and help Conrad forge the key. Use the tongs and hammer to carry out his instructions. Be careful!

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 35 XP

Reputation: 25 with Keepers of Aideen

Conrad will start counting down time. It’s best to keep your inventory window open for this next part.

He will give you three different instructions: heat the iron, work the iron, cool the iron.

Use the tongs on the forge and the water bucket, and use the hammer on the anvil. Use each tool before time runs out. If time does run out, you will have to start the work over again.

When you’re done, speak with Conrad again.

conrad_marsdeen

You were a great apprentice, I have to say. I’m sure you could be a great blacksmith someday if you try. Now I’m going to finish the work with the key and then the iron needs to rest until tomorrow to harden properly. Come back tomorrow and the key should be ready.

Quest completed

Return to Conrad tomorrow.

The Council Man in Silverglade Village has news for you.

In Your Face Old Man!

council_man

Wait, one more thing… There is one more detail that I think needs your attention.

It has taken quite a while, but I have finally gotten the official indictment against G.E.D. The bosses of Jorvik want me to deliver the indictment to Mr Kembell, but I have a lot to do here in the city and I know how much you like to do things that drive Kembell crazy. What could possibly make him more angry than you delivering the indictment to him personally?

Mr Kembell is still glaring at his oil drills north of the Winery, you can find him there.

Objectives: Deliver the indictment against G.E.D. to Mr Kembell who is standing near the oil drills near the Winery.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 45 XP

Ooh this should be good! Wait while I get my popcorn.

Bah… You again… You crazy girl! Okay… I’ll read the document…

A Threatening Greeting

mr_kembell

Grrr… It says that Jorvik City is charging me with fraud in the tenancy agreement where they think they can prove I have been using stolen oil drilling equipment. Catastrophe and madness! This is all your fault! You win for now… I will run while I can this time. I have found new places I can exploit for their natural resources on this stupid island. And this new place is a long way away from you AND your stupid horse!

Let the Jorvik council know that this is far from over… And when I win in court I’m going to come back here and dynamite Silverglade right off the island! You might be too young to remember, check out what I did to Hill Crest…

This is not the last time you’ll see me Rita…

Objectives: Speak with the Council Man.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 45 XP

And the award for the biggest crybaby goes to…

council_man

Wow, that really got him going. Mr Kembell should remember his blood pressure! Ha ha ha! We’ll have to hope that Jorvik City has what they need to make the charges stick. Mr Kembell is a dangerous man when he is angry and has the law on his side. But it is great to get rid of him for a while. Thank you Rita for your help.

Hill Crest is a sad story… It was once a prosperous town in the mountains south of Moorland that G.E.D. turned into a big hole in the ground… A mess of a dig site for mining. Both the town and the mine have been abandoned for a long time. It was a terrible shame what happened there…

Diary of a War Kid

Hi! For the next three stories I will be writing a diary. It will be written by a child growing up in World War II, who lives in a town in Jorvik. This diary will be entitled Diary of a War Kid.

Admin Note: This story is separate from ‘The Cold’ which was posted last week. Alice has decided to start a new story instead and may pick up with ‘The Cold’ later in the future.

January 5th, 1940

My mum wont allow me to have any sweets any more. I went up to her while she was sewing up my new skirt and asked

“Mummy can I go down to Adee’s shop and buy some sweets?”

Adee’s shop is just down the road, near the vault were Mummy keeps her little precious money. There is a fountain just in the middle of the town square which flows beautifully in stages. We live a  little cottage in a town called Fort Pinta. It has cannons on a big tower and a boy ( I don’t like him, he’s strange) called James, he runs the local stables. Anyway, she replied with something that really disappointed me, all I asked for was sweets.

“No you may not! I have limited supplies and buying sweets is at the bottom of my list!”
“But….” I started but was rudely interrupted by the crashing of my annoying little brother as he stumbled through the door.

“I’m ‘ome mam!” he cried. That’s when I slapped him… No no not literally; I just imagined myself doing it.

January 6th, 1940

Oh now I realize why Mummy wont let me have a sweets! Annah at school explained while she was counting Libbie’s skips,
“Mother says it’s a thing called rationing. It started at the beginning of the week, something about tickets in a book. I’m not too sure.”

I go to school at the village tower, you know were the cannons are! Its great there I have SOOO many friends. Annah is my best friend. She helps me with everything! Plus she is from America, she has SOOO many sweet things, like a drink called ‘lemonade.’ It’s soo yummy.

Anyway I have a plan that just might help me get sweets…

As long as I don’t disturb Mummy maybe, just MAYBE, she will get me some sweeties!! We will have to wait and see.

January 7th, 1940

Last night was the most SCARIEST thing EVER!!!!

I was in the living room learning to sew with my Mummy when a loud strange droning started. I didn’t pay much attention first but then Mum sprang into action. She grabbed me by the wrist, picked my brother up and ran outside the door. I panicked at first protesting by kicking and screaming, shouting out load “I’VE LEFT NINA IN THERE, I LEFT NINA!!”

Nina is my cuddly bear. she is quiet worn and almost threadbare but I didn’t mind. She was a present from my grandma, who’s dead now, so I kept her.

Anyway, as I was protesting but that came to a sharp end when I  saw a flash of light, not yellow but not red. It came from Adee’s shop. I screeched like a car ” NOO MUMMY TURN BACK GO TO ADEE’S QUICK!”

By the time I had got to the word Adee’s I was bursting into tears, crying my eyes out like a baby.
Mummy shoved me and George (my little brother) into the tin shed and bolted the door.
I need to stop writing now, I just hope Adee is okay.

HELP I DON’T HAVE NEW QUESTS!!

$

All of the quests starting about halfway through level thirteen require you have reputation with the druid Sun Circle faction. Once you start your druid training with Elizabeth, you need to make sure to do it everyday to get the required reputation the quickest. The first set requires you become Liked and the second set requires you become Popular. If done everyday, both will take fifteen days to complete.

Please do not complain that it takes so long. It’s something that needs to be done. And the longer you complain about it, the longer it will take you to get new story quests.

I just wanted to address this because I have been getting a lot of questions about it.

Hey Guys! So a slightly shorter chapter today, but I may upload two next week, just for a bonus! Didn’t really know what to call this one, but hey ho, and I hope you enjoy the second installment of Wishspers!:)

______________

I was riding down to Moorland today, just minding my own business when some huge yellow truck appeared, freaking the daylights out of Brave. He screamed and ran in the opposite direction, slitting his knee on some thorns. He threw me off on the road to Silverglade, and ran into the fields ahead. I thought I’d lost him. The truck driver couldn’t have cared less. He just drove on, and told me to ‘Watch it, or next time my horse wouldn’t be so lucky’. He had a sickening grin plastered to his face as he passed, leaving me stunned, glued to the dusty floor. I didn’t move for a while, shaken from the fall. But I heard Brave crying out and pulled myself out of the trance, jumping up and chasing his pleas, running wildly across the meadows. I saw someone trying to calm him, but it wasn’t working. He didn’t seem to listen to anyone else; Granddad aside, and was trotting around wildly, flaring his nostrils out. A man called Landon was the person trying to calm him. I was tired from running and walked towards him, relaxed after knowing he was safe. By the time I reached the shepherd, he and Brave were practically best friends, after a nice pat and a well-earned carrot! He said that those awful trucks were planning to invade the beauty of the island and build houses everywhere, destroying the nature. Yeah yeah, I know what you’re thinking, the girl who, though living here for five years, three days ago, after a month with Braveheart, she was nattering on about trampling beasts and some rubbish beauty, and would have practically worshiped anyone who had built something that somewhat reminded her of modern life, once you’re here, it just sticks, all I have to say. So, I will be beside the people of Moorland (and Justin!) until the very end!

So, after my little run-in with the BYB (Big Yellow Bulldozer), I went on down to Moorland to meet Justin. He checked Brave over (like he said) and then asked me if I was ready for my surprise! I couldn’t resist, so I’m here now, staying at Jen’s Hotel in Moorland for the night, and I cannot even explain how excited I am!

Day 41, Journey into Lands Unknown

Conrad has finished making a key to the gate.

The Key is Ready

conrad_marsdeen

There Rita, the key is ready. We can’t be certain it will work as it isn’t exactly easy to make a copy of a key from  picture. The key has brittle pieces that can break off or possibly ruin the lock permanently… But that is a risk we’ll have to take.

Do I know anything about Goldenhills Valley? Yes, I do and I’m happy to tell you about it.

Objectives: Speak with Conrad.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 45 XP

Reputation: 35 with Keepers of Aideen

Conrad will tell you more about Goldenhills Valley.

conrad_marsdeen

Goldenhills Valley is a very special place. It isn’t just a myth that snow spirits and other dangerous creatures sneak around over there during the winters… That is why they lock the gate. For the last few years it has been relatively safe, but we have carefully guarded the area just to be sure.

In the eastern part of the valley, there is a cottage and a crop owned by Justin’s grandfather. That’s right, old Jasper that you met before.

Farther down in the western part of the valley you will find Cape West fishing village… There is a very nice barn there for your horse around there. I’ve never been there myself, but I’m sure you will find some nice friends to get into some new trouble with there.

Quest completed

______________

The Southern Gate

conrad_marsdeen

Okay then Rita! Time to start your trip to Goldenhills Valley and good luck. I hope you find the Mayor there and find out why the gate was never opened this year. Remember that we can’t be sure that the key will work. It looks good for about three tries… Come back here if it doesn’t work.

Try to be careful over there.

Objectives: Unlock the Southern Gate that is directly north of the Baroness’s riding arena.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 70 XP

Ride to the gate and use the key. It will take a couple of tries to get the gate open.

self

“The key broke! But the lock opened! The gate is open and Goldenhills Valley lies open before you…”

Quest completed

Now with the gate open, let’s go see what Jasper has been up to on his pumpkin farm.

The Pacifist Pumpkin Grower

old_man_jasper

Rita! Welcome to Eastglade’s pumpkin farm! Finally we get to see you again. I can’t thank you enough for freeing me from all the hate and bitterness I carried around with me for twenty years! Completely without reason, it turns out. But now I finally get a chance to be happy! I can finally pursue my biggest dream; to grow pumpkins! But I bet you are wondering what I am doing here in Goldenhills Valley?

Objectives: Speak with Jasper.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 25 XP

Jasper will tell you more about his life on the pumpkin farm.

old_man_jasper

You see, Rita, since you freed me from my hate I no longer needed to stand and guard my fence anymore against my neighbor. Completely thanks to you!

So, this is my pumpkin farm, that is unfortunately a bit run-down and neglected… As I haven’t really been here for about twenty years. Now that I am finally here again it is time to clean it up and start growing the best and tastiest pumpkins in Jorvik!

Quest completed

______________

Things to Do at the Pumpkin Farm

old_man_jasper

There are a lot of exciting things to get started on here at my far. If you have time, of course. Of course if you help me then I’ll have some extra time… And then I can set up transporters in the area for you and your horse. Back and forth from the fishing village, for example. What needs to be done isn’t just work… It has a bit of fun in it too! I have some exciting riding trails that need to be set up and tested. I’ll also pay you a bit more than they normally pay for farm work too. What do you say?

Objectives: Speak with Jasper.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 25 XP

Jasper will be happy to have your help.

old_man_jasper

That’s great that you will help out a little here! I’m so happy!

Quest completed

______________

Broken Sprinklers

old_man_jasper

Darn it! The sprinkler system isn’t working. I strongly suspect it is because there are so many holes in the hoses as they have been unused for so many years. With so any holes no water is making it to the actual sprinklers.

Take this waterproofing tape and fix the hoses and we’ll see if that gets the sprinklers going.

Objectives: Use the tape to fix the holes in the hoses in the pumpkin field.

Rewards: 65 Jorvik Shillings, 35 XP

Wouldn’t it just be easier to get new hoses?

When you are done taping up the hose, return to Jasper.

old_man_jasper

That certainly did the trick! Now the sprinklers are working great! Well done Rita!

Quest completed

______________

Check the Horse Jumps

old_man_jasper

The riding track around my pumpkin farm has fallen apart during the years I have been away. Can you have a look and see which fences are dangerous and need to be repaired or replaced? I’ve marked them on your map so you can find them easier. Come back to me and let me know how it looks.

Objectives: Inspect the horse jumps and report back to Jasper. The locations of the jumps are marked on your map.

Rewards: 65 Jorvik Shillings, 35 XP

To inspect the jumps, all you have to do is approach them. Once you have inspected all four jumps, return to Jasper.

old_man_jasper

Aha… So all of the horse jumps are broken? Understandable after this amount of time. I built those fences over twenty years ago thinking that Justin would get to learn to jump here. It didn’t turn out that way… But now the riding trail can start to be used again by you and your friends…

Ghost Dust

old_man_jasper

As I’m sure you know, we use pumpkins for the big annual Halloween festival. People carve scary and fun faces into the pumpkins, put lights in them, and have them as decorations. According to tradition, the pumpkins keep evil spirits away from your home.

I have found a way to make them more… How should I put it… Ghost-like? As the pumpkins are growing, I fertilize them with ghost dust!

Ghost dust is left behind in the glittering trails the snow spirits leave as they pass through here in the winter. Ghost dust is spread all over the grasslands here in Goldenhills Valley, so it’s pretty easy to find.

Find a bunch of ghost dust and spread it over the pumpkins. Come back to me when you are done.

Objectives: Look for small piles of ghost dust in the grasslands around Jasper’s pumpkin farm. When you have found four piles, use them on the pumpkins in the pumpkin field, then return to Jasper.

Rewards: 65 Jorvik Shillings, 35 XP

The ghost dust can be found in the gully across the road from the farm, as well as up on the hill to the north of the farm.

Collect four piles of it, put it on the marked pumpkins in the field, then return to Jasper.

old_man_jasper

Ho ho! That’s great! That should do the trick. We won’t get to enjoy the results for a long, long time… Pumpkins take a long time to grow.

Quest completed

______________

The Riding Woodsman

old_man_jasper

Aha, the old jumps should be repairable, but we will be needing more wood. Maybe you have seen the four old trees that have died around the house? Take my saw that is on the porch steps and cut down the four dead trees. Then you can pull them back here with your strong horse.

Objectives: Take Jasper’s saw that is on the porch steps. Use the saw to cut down the four dead trees around the house. Bring the logs back to Jasper.

Rewards: 65 Jorvik Shillings, 30 XP

You have to be dismounted to use the saw. Once the tree is felled, click on it to pick up the log, and it will be placed on the back of your horse. When you have collected the logs from the four trees, return to Jasper.

old_man_jasper

Not bad! You and your horse are really quite strong. Maybe you should be a lumberjack?

Quest completed

______________

Fix the Old Horse Jumps

old_man_jasper

Take the logs and fix up the old horse jumps. With a bit of work they should be usable again.

Objectives: Repair the four broken horse jumps using the four old logs.

Rewards: 65 Jorvik Shillings, 30 XP

Take the logs to each of the jumps to repair them. Once all of the jumps are repaired, return to Jasper.

old_man_jasper

Great, Rita. Now the jumps aren’t dangerous anymore and they should work fine. Maybe it is time for a test run?

Quest completed

______________

Test Jasper’s Old Riding Trail

old_man_jasper

I built it for Justin, at that time I still hoped I would get to be a real grandfather. Oh well, now you and your friends can get some use out of it instead. Justin just vanished like the wind… I really wonder where he is…

Try out my old riding trail and see how well it goes with the new jumps.

Objectives: Test Jasper’s old riding trail.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 55 XP

Run the race. When you are done, speak with Jasper.

old_man_jasper

That looked pretty exciting, I have to say. You are really quite a good rider. Maybe this track is a bit to easy and short for someone like you… But I think it probably has potential!

Quest completed

______________

Pumpkin Cleaning

old_man_jasper

While you were testing the riding trail, I was having a look over at my pumpkin field. I saw that some of my pumpkins have gone bad… Gotten old. Can you help me get rid of the bad pumpkins?

I can see at least six of them that need to go. After we get rid of the bad ones, I think we can try and fix up my old horse transporter.

Objectives: Clear away the bad pumpkins from Jasper’s pumpkinfield.

Rewards: 65 Jorvik Shillings, 25 XP

You’ve been a very, very bad pumpkin. Shame on you…

Go into the field and click to remove the pumpkins gone bad. When you are done, return to Jasper.

old_man_jasper

Thank you. Sometimes a few of the pumpkins go bad… And then it is best best to get rid of them to leave room for the ones that are growing well.

Quest completed

______________

Where are the Wolves?

old_man_jasper

There are things happening here Rita! I have found out that there is a pack of wolves that are aggressive with people in the area north of Eastglade. The wolves are normally not dangerous to people, but if there is a pack of them, you can be sure they will be a little more brave and perhaps scare people away if people intrude on their territory.

Can you ride up to Shadowy Hills just northwest of here? You only need to follow the road north towards the Norther Gate.

See if you can find any wolves and report back your findings to me please.

Objectives: Ride around in Shadowy Hills, just northwest of Eastglade, and search for a pack of wolves. Report back to Jasper.

Rewards: 35 Jorvik Shillings, 30 XP

quest-wolves

Ride the road north until you find the wolves. When you do, return to Jasper.

old_man_jasper

You found a pack of wolves there? Well… That isn’t so good.

Quest completed

______________

Serious Warning!

old_man_jasper

Okay then… This is what we are going to do. We’ll start off by warning the other riders so they won’t be frightened if they meet the wolf pack out riding. I understand they have only put up a couple warning signs… Which really isn’t enough. We need to do better. Here, take these four signs and put them up on the places I will mark on your map. These are some really good signs! Come back and check in with me when you are done.

Objectives: Put the signs on the places marked on your map. Speak with Jasper when you are finished.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 30 XP

Ride back up by the wolves and place the four signs. Then return to Jasper.

old_man_jasper

Okay then… We’ve done everything we can to warn people on the road about the wolves.

Quest completed

______________

Dog or Wolf, Does it Matter?

old_man_jasper

The wolves would certainly stop threatening people if there was something to make them happy somewhere else. Aha, I think Linn in the riding arena has dog treats that she uses training her dog, Techno. Sure, why not? I’m sure that dog treats will be just as good for wolves. You should go and see if she has dog treats to lure away the wolves.

Objectives: Ride over to the riding arena and ask Linn about dog treats.

Rewards: 35 Jorvik Shillings, 40 XP

To the riding arena we go!

linn

Hey Rita! Have you beaten the record at the jumping course yet? Maybe it is time for you to try again?

You wanted to ask me about dog treats?

Quest completed

______________

Hungry As a Wolf

linn

I have lots of dog treats! People give Techno so many treats that I have to take most of them away so that he doesn’t get a stomach ache! Here is a big bag that should definitely be enough for a whole pack of wolves.

Give one to a wolf that doesn’t seem too angry and see how it reacts, I think it will probably work quite well. If not we can hope that Summerblaze can ride away quickly…

Objectives: Give a dog treat to a wolf in Shadowy Hills.

Rewards: 30 Jorvik Shillings, 40 XP

Ride back up to Shadowy Hill, and give a treat to the wolf standing on the road.

old_man_jasper

Ho ho! That was brave and well done, Rita. So the wolves seemed a little less dangerous after it was fed?

Return to Jasper tomorrow.

The Mystery of the Southern Iron Gate

old_man_jasper

You wonder why the gate stayed locked, even after the winter was over? I also wondered that myself. I’ve seen all the riders gathered outside the gate who wanted to ride into Goldenhills Valley. There were also a lot of transports that had to turn back. What a mess that was.

But I know who you should ask about it… And that would be Mayor Klaus in Cape West Fishing Village. Klaus is responsible for the Key to the City that opens the gate. You’ll find your way to him by riding as far west as possible. Follow the Golden Road, but don’t ride into Goldenleaf Forest. It is tough to find a way out of the west end of the forest.

Objectives: Follow the Golden Road west to Cape West Fishing Village and find Mayor Klaus.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 60 XP

Following the road into the village, cross the big bridge and go straight up the stairs into the center of the village. You will find Klaus standing there.

mayor_klaus

Good day rider! You look like you have ridden a long way! If you need a stall for your horse, you’ll need to go to Goldenleaf Stables. It is on the little island north of town. Just follow the bridge out to the north.

Oh? You came from Silverglade? That must have been terrible. I bet people over there have wondered why the gate has been closed. Unfortunately there is an easy explanation… Let me tell you about it.

Quest completed

______________

Klaus’s Explanation

mayor_klaus

So this is what happened. In the winter I always store the Key to the City in an iron-bound chest that I keep under my bed. As you know we keep the gate locked n the wintertime to keep the winter spirits out of Silverglade so they don’t scare anyone down there. They are actually quite dangerous and frightening. Every spring we unlock the gate again… But this year… The key was GONE!

Objectives: Speak with Mayor Klaus.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 25 XP

Klaus will tell you more about what happened.

mayor_klaus

One day I suddenly noticed that the chest was missing, and had been stolen! The only clue I could find was shoe prints the thief left behind in their hurry. The really strange thing about it was there were only shoe prints from a left shoe. No right foot prints at all! Very strange.

Quest completed

______________

Along the Missing Tracks

mayor_klaus

We found the same footprint from a left shoe along the beach south of the bridge to the mainland. We tried to follow the prints to look for more clues in the Labyrinth Shore but we didn’t find any and the prints ended at the edge of the sand. It is easy to get lost there just so you know, so it is possible we missed something.

If you can, it would be great if you could have a look and see if you find anything… But I’m worried it is pointless.

Objectives: Look for the clues along the southern beach and in the Labyrinth Shore, right beside the bridge to the mainland. If you find anything, tell Mayor Klaus.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 30 XP

Take the bridge out of the village, and turn to the right to go down onto the beach. The footprints are down on that beach. Follow them along the beach and into the trail through the water. When you have found a clue, return to Mayor Klaus.

mayor_klaus

But really? That’s not bad! That is my chest… But it has been emptied… And of course the Key to the City is gone.

Quest completed

______________

Even Farther Away

mayor_klaus

But this shows that the thief may have gone farther away than the Labyrinth Shore. Maybe you should look farther down the beach to see if you can find any other clues.

Objectives: Continue looking along the coast for more clues.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP

Return to where you found the chest, then continue on the water trail through Labyrinth Shore, until you reach the cave under Scarecrow Hill.

smuggler_bob

Ho ho! Even more surprises! What is this now? A little land crab in our secret cave!

Quest completed

______________

In a Pinch with the Smuggler Boss

smuggler_bob

Hrmm… What should we do with you? We can’t just let you go… As this is our secret smuggling cave and we don’t really want anyone else to find it. While we are quite obviously criminals… We aren’t the kind that kidnaps people, as a general rule…

Objectives: Speak with the master smuggler.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 60 XP

Find a way to talk yourself out of this one…

smuggler_bob

Well, it was the idea to steal the key so we could make more money smuggling things through the gate during the winter… When the gate is normally closed. We did make quite a bit of money using that secret route in the winter. It was wrong of us to take the key though… And it is only right the key should be given back to the rightful owner.

Quest completed

______________

Return the Key to the City

smuggler_bob

Here is the Key to the City. Now you can give it back to the Mayor on the condition you don’t give us away or tell them about our hideout.

Hopefully we won’t be seeing each other again, right Miss?

Objectives: Give the key to the city to Mayor Klaus.

Rewards: 100 Jorvik Shillings, 75 XP

Ride back through Labyrinth Shore, and take the key back to Mayor Klaus.

mayor_klaus

The key! How fantastic! Thank you for finding and returning this really important key!

Quest completed

______________

How Did You Get the Key Back?

mayor_klaus

It is fantastic that the key is back… I am so happy to see it again… But can I ask one question?

Objectives: Speak with the Mayor.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 25 XP

Time to use your sweet-talkin’ skills again! Give a good explanation without giving away the smugglers.

mayor_klaus

So now I know how it happened, Rita. I hope you enjoy our little fishing village. We are glad you came to visit us here. Make yourself at home!

Quest completed

______________

Ask the Local Stables?

mayor_klaus

Is there a stables here on the coast? Of course there is. I’m sure you have noticed that Jorvik is full of stables and we are not so uncivilized as to not have one of our own. Everyone on Jorvik loves horses… And our stables are the best in Goldenhills Valley. Maybe the others are just as nice, but we are just so proud of our Goldenleaf Stables!

If you ride up to the north, you’ll find the long bridge that we call Longbridge. If you ride over the bridge, you’ll come to Goldenleaf Stables. Don’t forget to say hello from me to the owner. Her name is Carin.

Objectives: Ride north and cross over the long bridge to get to Goldenleaf Stables.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP

You can get to the bridge from the lower boardwalk that circles the village. The stables is in the center of the little island.

Welcome to Goldenleaf Stables! We are a small and friendly stable that everyone should feel welcome at. Here you can join in our competitions and help out with daily chores. There is always a lot to do in the horse barn and any help you can give us would be greatly appreciated… And of course you will be paid too!

But first I should tell you a little bit about Goldenleaf Stables.

Objectives: Listen to Carin.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP

Carin will tell you more about the history of the area.

carin

Goldenleaf Stables is a very, very old stables that was founded a long time ago and used to breed and raise warhorses for the old Jorvik Navy. It is hard to believe but Cape West Fishing Village used to be a powerful fort that guarded the route and protected trade ships from pirates and other enemies.

Things are a little different nowadays. We are a lot more peaceful and love to have visitors and host travelers. We haven’t had many visitors this spring after the long winter so all news of the world outside is very welcome…

It is good to know that our stables and the famous Jorvik stables farther south are the farthest west stables on Jorvik.

Quest completed

______________

Keep the Coast Clean

carin

I need to ask you for some help Rita. Unfortunately a lot of garbage has been floating in from the ocean. It has been washing up on our beautiful beaches. Not only is it ugly but it is dangerous for the horses riding along that beach at full speed.

Please help collect the garbage along the beach and come back to me… We’re happy to pay you to help!

Objectives: Collect garbage from along the beach on the west coast. Tell Carin when you are finished.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 25 XP

Go back out to the beach near the Longbridge, and pick up the trash along the way. When you have picked up all the trash, return to Carin.

carin

Thank you Rita. More and more garbage washes up on the island every day… So unfortunately this won’t be the last time we’ll need help with this.

Quest completed

______________

Hang Up Lifesavers

carin

Here on the island we don’t just care of horses… We also want to make sure that the people can also feel safe. There are lots of people who like to swim out from our beautiful beaches but the currents are strong and can be dangerous. I have just received the lifesavers I ordered from Fort Pinta. Can you hang these two on the docks that are on the west side of the island?

Perfect! Now swimmers can feel safe when they are swimming out in the ocean.

Quest completed

The Lost Wallet

carin

Now I need your help again Rita. Can you help look for a wallet that Ewa lost when she was out inspecting our racing track? Ewa is in charge of our competitions here at the stables, she would be really happy if anyone could find her wallet. She suspects she lost it in the middle of the grove just north of our paddock. If you find it please return it to Ewa.

Objectives: Look for Ewa’s wallet in the grove north of the barn’s paddock.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 25 XP

Quest completed

Is the Race Track Usable?

carin

Quest completed

Objectives: Inspect the racing tack. The path is marked on your map.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 25 XP

BONUS Wishspers – Chapter Three: Must be Love!

Hey Guys! Fancy seeing all of you here! Just an extra bonus story for this week, thought it might be nice little surprise (even though I told you!) SO, I bring you, part three of my series Wishspers! Hope you enjoy and please do let me know down below or on the Game!

______________

Oh My Gosh!

It was amazing! We awoke so early yesterday, and raced down to Silverglade, grabbing the best of the morning bread and then we started: The Surprise

Turns out, as I was new, he had planned a day of touring and a picnic! I was truly touched! No one had ever been so kind or thoughtful towards me before, but now I felt that I finally belonged, after five years on this Island! We rode into the Castle and imitated the grand pictures, and then rode down over to Nilmer’s Highland. There we found the circus. The guy who owns it, Olaf I think he was called, somehow knows Justin and offered us free tickets to the Opening Night! We said yes and stayed chatting for a while and then went down towards the beach. He told me an amazing story about the broken bridge above – about how there used to be championships over onto the other side, and galloping through the bridge, a young man had fallen to the sea below and died! WE kept cantering onward  and soon came to an old den, with hay stacks and old sacks of corn and a canoe. We sat and ate the picnic and cloud watched for hours, talking about life, where I came from. He asked me about my parents, but I steered off the conversation quickly. I don’t need the only cool guy on this island  knowing what a total child of freaks I am. As it began to dusk, we rode back into Silverglade Village, to Granddad, who didn’t seem too happy to have found me making new friends. He was ‘far too busy then’ and told me to say Goodbye to Justin and ride on home to do some chores and wait for him for dinner.  So of course I did what he said… with a slight de tour!

I needed to get closer to Justin, and I thought offering for him to come up to my place sometime! He was so nice and polite about the whole Granddad thing, so I invited him for dinner that night. I wanted Granddad to know that I was sensible and could behave. We had already cooked dinner and had laid the table and cleaned by the time granddad got home. At first he seemed a little cold, but as soon as Justin got him onto the subject of the Council Archives, they were getting along like a house on fire. I walked him down to the end of the road, and I felt like we just totally clicked. Is true love real?  Especially for someone like me? I never thought so before, but now my opinion might just be changing…

Quest completed

______________

Apply for Tractor Driving Permit

old_man_jasper

Ride over to the city Council Man with the application for tractor insurance that I have already filled in. I downloaded the application from the internet and printed it out on my old printer… It was amazing it still worked. Have you heard of the internet? It is just a fad… And I don’t think it will become common for people to use it.. Trust me. Now pumpkin farming… THAT is going to become very popular… Trust me!

The city Council Man can surely grant me a temporary permit for now.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 10 XP

Quest completed

______________

Look Everywhere, We Need to Find It!

old_man_jasper

Uh oh… We have a problem. I can’t find the key to the tractor. I must have put it down somewhere here on the farm. Can you help me look for it? Here, I’ll mark the places I haven’t looked yet on your map. While you check there, I’ll keep looking!

Quest completed

Return to Jasper tomorrow.

Now let’s go see if Ewa is ready to let you try the new racing track.

Prove Yourself!

ewa

Before I let you use the competition track I just want to make sure you can handle such difficult riding. It’s nothing personal, just that everyone has to show they can handle it in the paddock first. It is just a simple safety procedure. Your reputation as a great rider got here before you… So this really is just a formality.

Objectives: Show Ewa you can manage the course in the paddock.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 50 XP

Run the simple course in the paddock, then speak to Ewa when you are done.

ewa

There was never any doubt you would manage that course there. Well done anyways. I figured you would have no problems.

Ask For Permission

ewa

Hey Rita! You have an idea? If we can build a jumping course in the paddock? That’s a great idea. We don’t have one right now. But before we start, we need to get permission from Carin. Ask Carin if it is okay.

Objectives: Ask Carin for permission to build a jumping course in the paddock.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP

Go over and ask Carin if you can build a jumping course.

carin

Behind the store with the horse equipment and the barn, there is a bunch of different parts you can use to build your jumping course There should be enough room for a small course with six jumps. That doesn’t feel like a log, but if you place the jumps well it could be very challenging. If you put the jumps close together, then people won’t be able to manage it at full speed, which will make it much harder as they will have to change speed to make it. Good luck!

Objectives: Take the parts of jumps from behind the equipment shop and build a jumping course in the paddock.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 40 XP

Pick up all of the poles stacked behind the equipment shop. Go out into the paddock and place three poles at each marked location. Return to Ewa when you have set all of the poles.

ewa

Super! That jumping course looks very exciting! Really hard from the looks of it… But if there isn’t a challenge, there isn’t any point in doing it, like my old aunt used to say.

Test the Small Jumping Course

ewa

Now you Rita! It is time to try out the jumping course you built!

Objectives: Manage the course’s six jumps. You’ll need to control your speed to clear the course.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 50 XP

You will have to take the course slowly to be able to manage it. Speak with Ewa when you are done with the course.

ewa

That wasn’t so bad! It made my leg shake I wanted to try it myself so much!

Quest completed

Return to Ewa tomorrow.

Carin needs help with something now.

Hooves Along the Beach

carin

Now someone competing lost all their horseshoes during the competition. Can you imagine? All four shoes at the same time? I’d love to have a chat with their farrier, as no real blacksmith would ever allow that to happen. You know how the track goes… Could you have a look and make sure there are no missing shoes buried in the sand? The others are looking in the woods.

Objectives: Look along the beach to find the missing horseshoes

Rewards: 35 Jorvik Shillings, 30 XP

Pick up four horseshoes from the beach. Three of them are along the racing track. The last one is on the opposite side of the island. Return to Carin when you have found all of them.

carin

It wasn’t easy to find them in the sand? But in the end it worked out fortunately.

Return to Carin tomorrow.

Story Ratings

I would just like to officially state that I only restrict my contributors in their writing to a PG rating. While these are not movies, I like to use the official American MPAA rating system, whereas PG is defined as (as quoted from the MPAA website):

PG — Parental Guidance Suggested. Some Material May Not Be Suitable For Children.A PG-rated motion picture should be investigated by parents before they let their younger children attend. The PG rating indicates, in the view of the Rating Board, that parents may consider some material unsuitable for their children, and parents should make that decision. The more mature themes in some PG-rated motion pictures may call for parental guidance. There may be some profanity and some depictions of violence or brief nudity. But these elements are not deemed so intense as to require that parents be strongly cautioned beyond the suggestion of parental guidance. There is no drug use content in a PG-rated motion picture.”

This means that I do condone stories centered in a wartime periods. Mentions of character deaths, brief depictions of violence, or mild language are not considered questionable content that I would remove from the site.

I apologize if you find any of the published stories offensive. I can only say that it is your own choice whether you read them or not. Regardless if you agree with the content, argumentative or rude comments are not allowed. As with everything, all people are allowed to their own opinions, but expressing those opinions in a negative manner is strictly prohibited.

Hi! This is part 2 to my story  Diary Of A War Kid.

Admin note: I have discussed before that I know that the thoughts of war can be unsettling to some readers. I apologize if you find this story offending, but I ask that you please keep negative comments to yourself (I will continue to monitor the comments for such, and I warn that anyone who continually posts offensive comments will be blocked from commenting at all in the future). I would like to stress the fact that this story is set in a war time period, and yes there will be mentions of war and violence, but there will not be any depictions of blood or gore. I maintain the position that I find nothing wrong with setting a story in war periods (which would pretty hard not to, since war has been a pretty constant thing throughout all of human history).

January 8th, 1940

He’s gone. Adee passed away in the  fire last night. Mummy sat me down and said,

“Now Marriana I need to tell you something but you aren’t going to like it.” She began, “Well you know that big flash that you saw last night? Well Uncle Adee was caught in it and…” She began to cry, “He.. he passed away last night.” I held her close and hugged her, trying to cheer her up. Adee was close to us, we just called him Uncle Adee because of that. I’m a bit upset but Mummy says I mustn’t dwell on it.

Anyway, class isn’t like it used to be. I go to school in that big towa’, but that towa’  just isn’t so big any more. Every day there seems to be a desk empty were a child has passed away. It upsets me but like Mummy says i mustn’t dwell.

January 10th, 1940

So today I got some news. My relatives in some other part of Jorvik have asked if I want to stay with them ’till the war ends. Mummy says it’s the best thing but I just don’t want to go!  This is my home and if I leave it’s like losing all my memories. They live in a place called Moorland, on a big hill where they own a farm. They recovered it from being ‘abandoned’ as they say. It sounds pretty nice but still, I don’t want to be taken away.

Later

Mummy insists I must go. She has packed my bags and I am going tomorrow. I ran around the house screaming,

“I AIN’T GOING, MAM YOU CANT MAKE ME!” but it was no use and I knew it. She was settled on making me go and nothing I said would change that.

January 11th, 1940

I’m just getting ready now. I’m packing my stuff, although there isn’t a lot of it. Mummy says I must go but I’m not sure, I don’t want to leave Libby and all my friends behind. I’m so upset that George isn’t coming, apparently he is too young to help out on a farm. I hugged him goodbye and got on the bus. As I am on on the bus, Mummy is in tears but she says it will be nice there, with the lush green trees and the fresh air will do me good. I can see she is sadder than she lets on but I better not inquire into what is wrong because she isn’t going to tell me.

Later

I am just pulling up now. It stinks, really it does! Just as Mummy said. The lush green trees swing in the fresh air, it’s quite pretty actually. Maybe it won’t be so bad after all, who knows?

Let’s see if Jasper remembers where he left the tractor key.

The Forgotten Tractor Key

old_man_jasper

Haha! Now you get to hear about it Rita! When I left the farm about twenty years ago, I loaned my tractor key out to the lady who ran Goldenleaf Stables. You’ll need to ride over there and ask her if she still has the keys.

Objectives: Travel to Goldenleaf Stables on the island north of Cape West Fishing Village and speak with the lady in charge.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 40 XP

‘Lady in charge’ = Carin

carin

Hey! So Jasper is around again? It has been a long time since he was seen in this area… It might have been about twenty years…

Quest completed

______________

A Forgotten Loan Remembered

carin

I was just a tiny kid the last time Jasper was around here but he must have some reason to think he loaned the key to his tractor to my poor mother who ran this place around that time. I have a key in the key cupboard that has  little label on it that says “Jasper’s.” That has to be it.

Take this key to Jasper and thank him for lending it to us… Even if nobody remembers now it was nice of him.

Objectives: Take the key to Jasper in Eastglade.

Rewards: 100 Jorvik Shillings, 40 XP

Back to Jasper’s we go!

old_man_jasper

Aha, there you are. So it is her daughter Carin who runs the stables now? Things change with time. But now we have my key back, and that is what matters! Now you don’t have to ride that long trip so often if you don’t want to when I can drive you safely between here and there. If the tractor starts of course!

Quest completed

______________

Jasper’s Transport Service

old_man_jasper

Serviced, filled up, and ready. Now we are ready for the moment of truth! Will the tractor start? I think you have earned the honor of being the one to try it. Take my key and try to start the tractor. You can feel the excitement in the air!

Objectives: Use the key to try and start Jasper’s old tractor. Speak with Jasper after you try.

Rewards: 100 Jorvik Shillings, 75 XP

Go over to the tractor and dismount your horse to use the key. After you have tried the key, return to Jasper.

old_man_jasper

Ho ho! That’s great! I now declare Jasper’s Transport Service reopened! After a twenty year break! Any time you want a ride between here and Goldenleaf Stables, I’ll be ready.

Quest completed

We have a new idea we should discuss with Ewa.

An Unexpected Proposal

ewa

It was a great idea to use the same course in the opposite direction. The course is ready for a test ride. Go ahead Rita! You should be the first to try it as you came up with the idea.

Objectives: Test out the Goldenleaf Stables race in the opposite direction.

Rewards: 20 Jorvik Shillings, 30 XP

Ride the track, then speak with Ewa when you are finished.

ewa

Was it fun? Great then, I’ll open it up for everyone to ride in the other direction.

Quest completed

Carin has a task for you now.

Seahorse

carin

Hey Rita! Do you see the beautiful horse over there? That horse needs to be taken to Herman in Jorvik Stables and I’d like to get your help with that. Captain Brus is going there on his next boat trip and he has promised to deliver the horse to Herman. But first we need to get the horse to his ship. Captain Brus is at Longbridge, so it isn’t exactly a long trip.

Keep close to the horse and lead the way for it and it shouldn’t be a problem. The horse you want to bring with you is the one over there by the wall, right beside the barn.

Objectives: Stay close and show the horse the way to Captain Brus.

Rewards: 45 Jorvik Shillings, 50 XP

Escort the horse to the other end of Longbridge. Speak with Captain Brus when you get there.

captain_brus

Arrr! Here comes a rider with the old horse that should be taken on the boat to Jorvik Stables. If I could only get out to sea then Herman would get to see his horse again tomorrow.

Quest completed

______________

Get the Sailors Together

captain_brus

Cough cough! Before I can get myself back out on the big blue sea I need the help of a brave rider like you. When you are ready to depart I’ll have a present for your horse…

My sailors seem to have started a mutiny. They have hidden in town and I can’t gather up these idiots. It’s trange, they used to be loyal and trustworthy but now they are acting like shady smugglers. See if you can find them and make them understand it is time to cast off. There are five of them and they are stumbling around the docks in the fishing village. Come back and let me know what’s happening later.

Objectives: Ride around the fishing village docks and looks for the five sailors. Find out if they are ready to go. Report back to Captain Brus.

Rewards: 65 Jorvik Shillings, 40 XP

Ride around and notify the five sailors that are walking along the lower level of the fishing village. When you have contacted all of the, return to Captain Brus.

captain_brus

Yarrr! You found all five sailors? And all said they were ready? That’s good, I knew I could count on them. But I need to talk to them and let them know they need to sharpen up and stop acting like cheap smugglers in the future. On my ship we do it right or not at all! Now we only have one more problem to solve…

Quest completed

______________

Pick Up More Cargo

captain_brus

Hrmmph! Before I weigh anchor and set sail towards Jorvik Stables, I need our cargo onboard. Everything was loaded and ready to go until the Mayor called and has something to add to the load. Speak with the Mayor to find out what he wants to bring and ask him to hurry up. The wind is just right and I don’t want to wait longer than I have to.

Objectives: Ask Mayor Klaus if he has anything he wants to ship.

Rewards: 45 Jorvik Shillings, 25 XP

Ride up to the village center and speak with the Mayor.

mayor_klaus

Hey Rita! It’s true, I do have an antique porcelain dinner service that I inherited that has been in my family for generations. It is so fragile and delicate, I haven’t dared to transport it to Captain Brus before.

Quest completed

______________

Breakable Package

mayor_klaus

Careful Rita, careful… The box you are holding contains a delicate set of china that has been in my family for generations. I’ve never used it so my sister should have it. I thought Captain Brus could sail it to her. I never felt I could trust anyone to ship it, which is why I haven’t sent it yet. You are a careful and skilled rider, Rita. Ride carefully with the box to Captain Brus. Please, please! Be VERY careful!

Objectives: Ride slowly and carefully to Captain Brus.

Rewards: 55 Jorvik Shillings, 40 XP

This task is like the one delivering eggs from Andy to Mrs Packard. Ride slowly to Captain Brus. Do not let the danger bar fill up. The faster you ride, the quicker it will fill. If it gets too full, slow down to a walk or stop completely, and it will drain.

captain_brus

Ahoy! That wasn’t quick at all Rita! A fragile dinner set? Now I understand why it took you so long. You had to ride much slower than normal.

There we go, down in the cargo room with it! -crash, shatter, tinkle!-

That ought to do it. Okay, now we are ready!

Quest completed

______________

Where is My First Mate?

captain_brus

Now I’m only missing my first mate… I’m beginning to be a bit unwilling to wait longer before casting off. The last time I saw him, he was up near the fishing village lighthouse. Who knows what he was doing there? Rita, ride your brave horse there and ask him to get back here quick so we don’t miss the wind… And so I don’t keelhaul him!

Objectives: Speak with the First Mate. He was last seen up near the lighthouse.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 25 XP

‘Keelhaul’ is sailor-speak for ‘butt kick.’ The more you know!

Ride up the lighthouse to find the First Mate. You may have to chase him a bit around the lighthouse to get to speak with him.

sailor

Hello! Captain Brus is looking for me? Well, you see, there is a bit of a complication. We can’t leave at the moment because I misplaced both the navigation charts and my compass when I was up visiting the lighthouse. I think the wind might have blown them away, you understand.

Quest completed

______________

Compass Hunt

sailor

Well, the compass was attached to the chart when it blew out to sea. So the compass must have fallen down from the top of the lighthouse and landed there somewhere. I’ve looked everywhere down there but I haven’t found it. What did you say? It might have fallen farther down? Oh no… I hope it hasn’t broken.

Objectives: Look for the compass that fell down from the top of the lighthouse. Maybe it has landed farther out than where the First Mate is searching.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 25 XP

Ride down to the lower level of the village and look on the beach that runs along the west side of the village.  When you find the compass, return to the First Mate.

sailor

Thank you! You are my hero! And the compass is working too. It must have landed on something soft… Like the sand over there. Thank you so much!

Quest completed

______________

Missing Navigation Chart

sailor

Yes, the wind ripped the navigation charts right out of my hands and blew it out to sea. I don’t really know what to do about it. What? You think you can just ask the Mayor for a new one? That would be really kind of you if you could do that… I really don’t want to be keelhauled by the Captain…

Objectives: Ask Klaus if he can issue a new navigational chart.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 25 XP

Ride down and speak with Mayor Klaus.

mayor_klaus

Hey Rita! Of course I can issue another navigational chart for you. You and Captain Brus and his staff are friends of the city so of course we’ll help him out.

Quest completed

______________

Sea Chart Thieves?

mayor_klaus

No… You know what Rita! My sea charts are gone! Who could have taken them? It might have vanished at the same time the key was stolen…

You have an idea as to who might have taken them, you say?

Objectives: Ask the smugglers in the smuggler’s cave if they have stolen the sea charts.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 25 XP

Ride through Labyrinth Shore to the Smuggler’s Cave to speak with its occupants about the missing sea charts.

Quest completed

Gone with the Wind

smuggler_bob

So you are looking for the Mayor’s sea charts… Yes, that makes sense. We did take them when we stole the Key to the City. But when we hid in the Labyrinth Coast there came a strong wind that blew away the sea chart. I’ve seen that the winds are still playing with that chart. I have seen it still blowing round out there when were out smuggling. We haven’t had any luck catching it but maybe you will as you have a horse. It is on the small islands along the Labyrinth Coast. If you catch the charts of course you can do whatever you want with them.

Objectives: Ride to the Labyrinth Coast and catch the three sea charts that are blowing around in the wind. Return them to Klaus.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 45 XP

Go through the ‘labyrinth’ part and you’ll find the charts blowing around along the beach with the footprints. They can be hard to catch so have patience. When you have hold of all three of them, take them to Mayor Klaus.

mayor_klaus

Thank you Rita! You’ve done me a big favor again!

Quest completed

______________

Sea Chart for the First Mate

mayor_klaus

But of course! Of course you should get a sea chart for the First Mate. I’m anxious that they get going soon so my sister can get the family china dinner set.

Objectives: Give the sea chart to the First Mate by the fishing village lighthouse.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 40 XP

Go up to the First Mate by the lighthouse.

Sea charts! How did you manage it, Rita? Now we can plan the right way to sail! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Quest completed

Yahoo! Thank you for your help getting back the compass and the sea charts! Now I can go back to the ship again. Can you tell Captain Brus that I am on my way and we are ready to cast off? I’m sure that you will get the reward for your horse that the Captain promised you before.

Objectives: Tell Captain Brus everything is ready for departure.

Rewards: 45 Jorvik Shillings, 30 XP, Shiny Bridle

Go tell Captain Brus the good news.

captain_brus

Yarrr! Finally we can head back out to sea! Coming to land is nothing but trouble, on the open sea life is much simpler… But now we are ready to sail and you should have the present I promised you. But what is THAT! Keelhaul me backwards! Is that SEA TERMITE I see on my mast??

We certainly can’t leave like this… Grrr… Now we have to stay here even longer…

Goodbye Rita, you have helped me a lot but I need to order a new mast before we are sea-worthy again. But you should get the present I promised you! Yarr… cough cough…

$

Hello There! Before you read the story, I want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to all of you for your positive feedback and lovely comments! It really does always make my day! Hope you enjoy Chapter 4!

______________

I guess I was wrong…

I haven’t seen Justin for days. He ran away with some Sabine girl. So much for true love.

I hung around Moorland loads, asking for him, trying to talk. But he kept shoving me away, hanging out with this Sabine girl. He said he was busy, couldn’t talk, packing, until Sunday. He was on that boat. I could have jumped on too, but I didn’t. I froze on Brave, staring as they sailed into the distance, waving? I just don’t understand.  Why would he leave? I asked Alex, a nice girl who had been around recently, but she ran off to Valedale, saying she had some really important stuff to do, but then no one else would tell me why he had gone. Even Granddad and he tells me everything. It’s so annoying, the only one who Justin has been talking to, showing affection(disregarded now) to, being nice to, introducing to people, spending most time with is the only one who doesn’t know why he has gone? It’s plain messed up!

But, just because, people won’t tell, doesn’t mean I won’t find out, does it? I was riding out to the Hollow Woods, doing some research for my current project, and then I bumped into this kinda bonkers looking lady! I mean, I’m not being rude, she was ever so nice, but she asked me if I spoke to my horse? Well, I said yeah, when I am angry, but she said did I get into deep conversation with him? What kind of a stranger asks you that?! She then invited me in for some tea, but I decided that after that interesting conversation, I’d better not. She was carrying this little bag around with her, and it jingled like it was full of stones or something. She caught me looking and suddenly got all shady and covered the bag with her hand, and rushed off, muttering something about getting dinner ready for an early night. I just rode on, all the way to Silverglade, and went straight to Granddad. He said the woman I bumped into was some Elizabeth Sunbeam, and that I must always be polite and respect her if I ever saw her again. Asking why? Me too. But, I’ve given up asking questions for my own special lent. Way too over-rated.

Alex has some news for you.

A Strange Radio Message

alex

I thought I would find you around here somewhere. We’ve had a bit of a breakthrough in our search for Justin, I think… Mario, from the Astronomical and Archaeological Society in Jorvik you know, was lucky enough to hear a radio message when he was working with his radio equipment. Are you ready to hear it, my friend?

Objectives: Listen to what Alex has to say.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP

Reputation: 10 with Keepers of Aideen

Alex will tell you about the radio message.

alex

So that is it. The message was strange and Mario wasn’t lucky enough to catch it all, but he thinks that the message means that Dark Core will ship Justin’s horse to some beach here close by. And the horse will be picked up by someone that is called the “Dark Rider Malumi” or something like that. I have my suspicials about who could be using that as a code name.

The Dark Rider will of course be transporting the horse to somewhere in Goldenhills Valley.

Justin’s horse is going to picked up by the beach tomorrow morning! We need to hurry and try and find and follow the Dark Rider to see what they do with Justin’s horse.

Mr K Trout, in Cape West Fishing Village would like to teach you a little about fishing.

Big Fisherman

mr_trout

Hello there, little minnow! I’m Mr K Trout, the best of the big fishermen from Anvil Bay in the North. I’m sure you have heard of me? I’ve just moved here as there is a fantastic variety of fish in the ocean around this village. It is possible to have a great fishing business here. So what’s your name, you little mackerel?

Rita! A great name for a fisherman! This is going to be great! Ok, Rita now that you are here in this beautiful fishing village maybe you can help me with some little fishing things? I’m thinking if we cooperate it could be very profitable for both of us. So what do you say? Should we cast our lines together?

Sure thing. Sounds fun!

Conrad in Moorland has some new work for you.

You Want Even Better Horseshoes?

conrad_marsdeen

So you want even better horseshoes Rita? A really, really good pair? I’m sure we can manage it… But it will take a lot of work to get it done… And you will have to make them all by yourself. Only by making them yourself will they have the strongest power. You are going to need some tools and materials… Some of which are hard to get. Keep in mind this will probably take us an entire week… But it will be worth it. I promise you won’t be disappointed!

Are you ready to make your own horseshoes?

Objectives: Speak with Conrad.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 5 XP

Reputation: 5 with Keepers of Aideen

Blacksmith apprentice, reporting for duty!

conrad_marsdeen

Okay then Rita! Let’s get started on forging shoes for Summerblaze. Because we are using different kinds of iron we will also need some special water to cool the metal. For the forge we will need fuel, you will also need to get that. The forge and the tools I have, and you are of course welcome to use them to make the shoes as long as you listen to me and do exactly what I tell you.

Quest completed

______________

Meltwater

conrad_marsdeen

Listen now Rita. All the way up in Valedale you can find the source of the Silversong River. The water there comes from ancient glaciers that are slowly melting in Hidden Dinosaur Valley. The source of water is full of mystical powers that are going to help make the horse that wears these shoes faster than the wind.

Here Rita, take my bucket. Ride over to Valedale and collect some water from the source of the Silversong River. Near the east coast in Valedale, there is an old trail that leads to the place where you should collect the water.

Objectives: Fill Conrad’s bucket at the source of the Silversong River. Give the water to Conrad.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 5 XP

Reputation: 5 with Keepers of Aideen

quest-meltwater

Ride to Valedale, and on the east side of the river, follow it north along the water reeds, towards the waterfall.

conrad_marsdeen

There is the water. Can you feel the power in it Rita?

Quest completed

______________

Ancient Wood

conrad_marsdeen

Listen closely Rita, the forge fire needs to be fed with nature’s ancient power to give the horseshoes if we are going to give them amazing strength. Of course fire is powerful in itself, but we need to give it something extra to make sure the shoes are truly special. We need wood from the mighty Ancient Oak. In olden times Hollow Woods was full of those majestic ancient oak trees but now there are only a few left along the edge of the Silversong River on the east shore.

Objectives: Find the wood from the Ancient Oak at the edge of the woods east of the Silversong River. Give the wood to Conrad.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 5 XP

Reputation: 5 with Keepers of Aideen

The trees can be found along the Silversong Path, between Valedale and Firgrove. Pick up the wood on the ground, and when you have collected enough, return to Conrad.

conrad_marsdeen

This wood is shining with power Rita. Your horseshoes should be even stronger than I had hoped.

Quest completed

______________

More Ghost Ore!

conrad_marsdeen

Okay then Rita. We need ghost ore from Jarl’s Tomb to begin to forge your new horseshoes. People in Jorvik still tell stories about Jarl’s strong will and discipline. The mystic ghost ore is full of his presence. With this iron in the horseshoes, the wearer will have discipline as strong as Jarl’s. Here is my pickaxe. Ride to Jarl’s Tomb and get two good pieces of Ghost Ore.

Objectives: Pick out two good pieces of Ghost Ore in Jarl’s Tomb and take them to Conrad.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 5 XP

Reputation: 5 with Keepers of Aideen

The trail to Jarl’s Tomb is just north of Doyle’s Abbey, near Fort Pinta. You need to dismount your horse to enter the tomb. Mine iron from inside the tomb, then return to Conrad.

conrad_marsdeen

Great Rita. Now we are ready to forge the shoes.

Quest completed

______________

First Forging Lesson

conrad_marsdeen

Okay now Rita. Follow my instructions very closely…

Sometimes I will want you to work the iron with the hammer on the anvil. Sometimes I will want you to heat the iron in the forge and sometimes I will need you to cool the iron in the bucket of water…

I will tell you when I need you to do those different tasks. Timing is incredibly important to doing a good job. If you mess up even once, you will have to start all over again and do it right. Do you understand? And of course you can’t sit on your horse while we forge the iron…

Put Summerblaze a bit away from us so we have room to work. Here are my tongs and hammer, they are now in your bag. Be prepared to use them. The hammer you use on the anvil. The tongs you use to heat the iron in the forge and to cool the iron in the bucket.

Objectives: Use the tongs from your bag on the forge and the water and use the hammer on the anvil when Conrad gives you instructions. Be careful and be quick!

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 5 XP

Reputation: 5 with Keepers of Aideen

Follow Conrad’s instructions before time runs out. If the time bar drains, you will have to start the whole session over again.

When you are done, speak with Conrad.

conrad_marsdeen

I have to say you were a very good apprentice. Maybe you would like to be a blacksmith someday? Anyways, we’ll continue tomorrow. The iron needs to set for a day for the horseshoes’ power to be as strong as it can get.

Quest completed

Return to Conrad tomorrow.

Alex is ready to catch the Dark Rider that is to pick up Justin’s horse. Let’s go see her outside the riding arena.

Observation Place Number 2

alex

Now it is time. I thought I would watch the Southern Gate here. I thought you could watch the southern beach in Goldenhills Valley, just down from the broken bridge that goes over the ravine that makes a natural wall between the beach and the Goldenleaf Forest, you know. I’ve marked the place on your map.

I’ve sent other friends to other locations on the Golden Road, and around the Labyrinth Coast so I think we have the area quite well covered.

Objectives: Ride over to your lookout post that Alex assigned to you. She has marked the location on your map.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP

Reputation: 15 with Keepers of Aideen

Go to the marked place to begin your stakeout.

Proposal for Alex

alex

Okay then Rita! Well followed! So the Dark Rider took Justin’s horse past the Northern Gate? What is up there and who’s there? Why are they taking Justin’s horse there? There are questions we’ll never know the answers to if we can’t get past that gate in some way… Do you have any good ideas?

Objectives: Tell Alex what you think we should do here next.

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 35 XP

Reputation: 15 with Keepers of Aideen

See here, I’m full of good ideas!

Quest completed

Does Jasper Have Any Ideas?

alex

Reputation: 10 with Keepers of Aideen

Ride over to the pumpkin farm and speak with Jasper.

old_man_jasper

You are wondering what is past the Northern Gate? Well youngsters, it was a long, long time ago that I was there… But I’ll try to remember.

Quest completed

______________

An Old Man Tries to Remember

old_man_jasper

My memory is letting me down. It was over twenty years ago that I last set foot in the area past the North Gate. It should be open after the winter, just like the Southern Gate, if I remember right… I might have heard that it has been locked for a decade since I left… And hasn’t been opened since. But now we need to see if I can remember anything about the area past the gate…

Objectives: Listen to Jasper and see what he can remember…

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP

Reputation: 10 with Keepers of Aideen

Think, think, think!

old_man_jasper

That’s right… There was a wood and a nice summer house there! And a road that led to an old fort if I remember right. The summer house in the area was owned by Mayor Klaus and his adorable wife, whose name I can’t remember right now… Wow, that was a long time ago. I remember eating pumpkin ice cream on the porch in the summer…

Quest completed

______________

A Chat with Klaus

alex

Okay. It seems like someone is living beyond the Northern Gate and it just might be they are staying at the Mayor’s old summer place… Now we have something to check out. Ride over to Cape West Fishing Village and speak with Klaus. Ask him about his summer house and about his wife. Also ask to borrow the Key to the City so we can open the Northern Gate. I’ll watch the gate to see if the Dark Rider or anyone else comes out… Or possibly for anyone else coming in. We’ll see you there later.

Objectives: Speak with Mayor Klaus in Cape West Fishing Village about his old summer home.

Rewards: 5 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP

Reputation: 10 with Keepers of Aideen

Ride to the village and speak with Klaus.

Better a Mayor in the Hand…

mayor_klaus

Oh. You know what? I think I have to rush off now. I’m pretty sure I won’t remember anything about that… I think I need to go right now. Bye bye!

Objectives: Hunt down Klaus in the village! He is running away and doesn’t want to talk.

Rewards:10 Jorvik Shillings, 30 XP

Stupid man… How silly of you to run away from a person on a horse…

mayor_klaus

You caught me Rita. A bit dumb of me to think I could just run away from you and your horse. I can’t run away from you and I certainly can’t run away from my past…

Quest completed

______________

The Tragic Wife

mayor_klaus

Oh well. You can’t run away from your past. I’ll tell you everything.

My wife and I were so happy together… And we had a wonderful summer house together beside a mountain lake north of the gate. But my wife became interested in hocus-pocus type things… And she began to brew strange witch potions. I was really worried about her.

Finally, one day I returned to find our beautiful mountain lake had changed into a dark swamp! And my wife… She had turned into an evil witch!

There was nothing I could do for her! It is my biggest regret… She is still there completely lost in her potions and witchcraft.

So… You also want to speak to her?

Objectives: Speak with Klaus.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP

Yes, I would like to speak with her.

mayor_klaus

I don’t think she will listen to a word you say, my friend. My dear wife is gone and that witch is all that remains. It breaks my hear just to think about it. For my part I would still appreciate it if you would try and speak wit her.

You have helped me and the village a great deal already. Of course if there is anything I can do to help you, I absolutely need to do it.

Quest completed

______________

Past the Northern Gate

mayor_klaus

Here is the Key to the City. With this key you can also unlock the Northern Gate. Good luck now. If you manage to speak with my witch wife… Please tell her I still love her and would like nothing more than to have her come home again.

Objectives: Unlock the North Gate and speak with Alex.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP

Reputation: 10 with Keepers of Aideen

Ride up to the Northern Gate and unlock it with the key. Then speak to Alex.

alex

The gate is open now… Hurray! I can take the key and give it back to Klaus later. I have some things to take care of in Cape West anyways.

Quest completed

______________

Are There Witches Here?

alex

Okay then. Ride in and see if you can find the witch. I agree with you that the witch and the Dark Rider probably have something awful in mind for Justin’s poor horse. She can definitely give us some information on where we might find Justin. Be careful! I’ll keep watching the gate for as long as I can. I’ll be here if you need help!

Objectives: Find the Mayor’s old house and his wife the witch.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 25 XP

Reputation: 10 with Keepers of Aideen

Ride north down into the swamp and ride on the boardwalk to the back of the swamp to get to the witch’s house. Be careful to not fall into the swamp water.

witch_pi

Hahaha! Abracadabra! You think you can just walk in here and get me to tell you anything you want? You ARE funny! Now I think I’ll transform you and your silly horse to teach you a lesson!

Quest completed

quest-frog

Ride back to the gate to speak with Alex.

A Real Nasty Witch

alex

You were turned into a frog? Oh my… Luck it wasn’t for very long.

So the Mayor’s wife is also the witch Pi and is not really that willing to help. And she has Justin’s horse in a big cage… Hmm… We need to think of something to do. Linda is pretty clever and isn’t too far away. Ride over to Linda at the Equestrian Center and ask her what she thinks we should do. I’ll keep watching the gate so nobody can sneak in and move Justin’s horse without us knowing about it.

Objectives: Speak with Lind at the Equestrian Center.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP

Reputation: 10 with Keepers of Aideen

Meet up with Linda at the Winery stable and tell her what has happened.

linda

Heya Rita! I have a lot on the go right now but if you say it is really important I will absolutely help out. That’s what friends are for.

Quest completed

______________

Winery Library

linda

Okay. I understand. You need a way to get that witch Pi to talk to you. Poor Klaus having his wife turned into a witch. Hopefully we can find a way to bring back Pi so she turns into the nice woman she once was.

Well, I don’t have a solution in mind. I think we’ll actually have to do some research on this one. It is time to visit the Library. The Winery has a fantastic Library. I’ve spent many hours with my nose buried in those exciting books. Come on. Let’s go!

Objectives: Follow Linda to the Winery Library. Go in through the east entrance to the main building.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 15 XP

Reputation: 10 with Keepers of Aideen

Walk with Linda to the Winery building, then dismount your horse to go inside the building. Meet Linda inside.

linda

What do you think? Pretty amazing right? A really good library, full of the collected knowledge of hundreds of years. You can almost feel how much the books really want to push their knowledge into someone’s mind! So much to read… So little time…

Quest completed

______________

Find the Right Thing in the Right Book

linda

The thing is we need to find the right book to find the answer to how to turn the witch back into her old, kind self… Or at least get her to talk to us and tell the truth. I’ll sit down here and start looking through the Witchopedia first. You can look through the library and maybe you can find some books about witches. If you find any, bring them here.

Objectives: Look around for all the books you can find on witches and bring them to Linda.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 25 XP

Reputation: 10 with Keepers of Aideen

Walk around the library and pick up all of the books you can. Then speak with Linda when you have enough books.

linda

Nice find! Now we have a pile of exciting books about witches that we can work through.

Quest completed

______________

The Little Light Reader

linda

This is going to take a while. You can help me dig through a few of these books for how to make a witch more cooperative. Here, sit down and look through these four books.

Objectives: Sit down and read the four books that Linda put out for you.

Rewards: 10 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP

Reputation: 10 with Keepers of Aideen

Go through the four books on the desk in front of Linda. Speak with her when you are done with the books.

linda

Thank you for the help. You did find some useful information… But I don’t think we have what we need for a solution yet.

Quest completed

Return to Linda tomorrow.

Mr Loop has finished repairing Mr Trout’s things.

Traps are Ready!

mr_loop

There you go! All the traps are fixed now. Take them back to Mr K Trout so he can start catching crayfish again. Haha.

Reputation: 15 with Jorvik Fishing Club

Look, another thing for him to break…

mr_trout

Fantastic! The net looks great… Just like new! He wondered what I was catching to break my net all the time? Sawfish? Does he think I’m dumb as a cod, or what?

Quest completed

______________

Back in the Crayfish Business!

mr_trout

Oho! Now I need to ask you to put the traps back in their spots again. Would you mind? Come back to me later.

Objectives: Place out the six traps in their places along the Longbridge.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP

Reputation: 10 with Jorvik Fishing Club

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP

Reputation: 10 with Jorvik Fishing Club

Go to the end of the west-most southern dock, and place the net there. Return to Mr Trout when you are done.

mr_trout

Thank you for your help Rita! You really need a lot of energy and patience to be a big fisherman like me, Mr K Trout. At first I thought you were a little minnow, but I’m beginning to think you have what it takes to be a big shark like me. Maybe you would be interested in joining us in the world’s best fishing club? We’ll see if you have what it takes to be a member of the Jorvik Fishing Club.

Quest completed

______________

Do You Want to Be a Big Fisherman?

mr_trout

I have a suggestion, Rita. Do you want to be a big fisherman like me? If you say yes then I will teach you how to catch fish and then later you can earn extra Jorvik Shillings by helping me fish. If you think you have what it takes then we can see about making you a member in the Jorvik Fishing Club. All the best fishermen are members there.

Every day I’ll need fish that are in demand. Fishing is the most fun thing ever. Do you want to be a big fisherman?

Objectives: Speak with Mr K Trout.

Rewards: 25 Jorvik Shillings, 20 XP

Reputation: 10 with Jorvik Fishing Club

Sure, why not?

mr_trout

Great Rita! I’ll teach you everything I know! You will need to prepare before you fish. First and foremost you definitely need a fishing rod. You can buy that from Mr Loop at the fishing store. If you like you can buy fishing clothes there too… But you don’t really need it to fish… It is just cool to have.

Why don’t you come back tomorrow when you have bought a fishing rod and I’ll let you test out fishing for a bit and we’ll see how it goes.

Quest completed

You can buy the fishing rod now, or wait until tomorrow, but you will need to buy one from Mr Loop to continue the quests.

Return to Mr Trout tomorrow.

Conrad is ready to continue the forging of your new horseshoes.

Another Day of Forging

conrad_marsdeen

Objectives: Use the tongs and the hammer to carry out the tasks Conrad gives you. Be careful and listen closely!

Rewards: 15 Jorvik Shillings, 5 XP

Reputation: 5 with Keepers of Aideen

It’s the same procedure as before. You know the drill.

conrad_marsdeen

This looks promising! Now the metal needs to rest for the night again and then we can continue. But there is something we need you to fix now. The wood you collected is almost gone.

Quest completed

conrad_marsdeen

Fantastic Rita! Let’s just hope we don’t use up all the wood now. We might need it for other work in the future. But it is your horseshoes that are the most important right now.

Quest completed

Return to Conrad tomorrow.

I really want to have a fun active club, and I don’t like being limited to only having people on the same server as I am. I am changing the club to be based in the chatroom and not solely in game. Therefore, it is open to everyone, no matter what server, and you do not need to leave your current riding club! I have updated the club page, and will be adding names of people who have already sent in their application forms.

I would like to try to get enough members to be able to start the trivia games by the first week of June. So, if you are interested, send in your form so we can get started!
